A little about the daydreamer..

My name is Danica Orchard. I am 28 years old, and I am married to my best friend, Matt. We married in 2008 after a whirlwind first date, engagement and wedding! I will put up an indepth post about how we met soon, I promise! Matt is one of the most kind, and optimistic men I know. He is always cheerful and loves to have a good joke to make people smile! He is a hard worker and provides for our little family. We are super blessed that with his work, I am able to stay home to parent our two little girls. There names wont be revealed in this blog to respect their privacy but I will refer to them as Miss Placid (3.5 years) and Miss Cheeky (2 years).

We recently moved up north to a country town in WA, for Matt's work. I was born in Canberra and raised in Perth, WA, and Matt is a Perth boy through and through. When we married, he was in the navy, so we did have a rough start to marriage with a few big trips he had to go on. Looking back, it has made us work to communicate better, and only made us stronger as a couple.

I went to a Christian school from year 1 - year 12 and am so grateful to my parents for that, not only for the education I received, but for the friends I made along the way. Those girlfriends, are the ones that helped me through those awkward teenage years, and I have been heard saying, if it weren't for them, I would not have the relationship I have now with Christ. They encouraged me to keep that relationship with him strong - which was quite difficult at the time.

Since a young age, I was a dancer and I LOVED my sport of Calisthenics. It was my passion and one thing I loved to do to express myself. Pouring my heart and soul into my routines to perform on stage was an expression of God's love for me. He provided me with the talent, and dancing with everything I had was my way of honouring him through that. I miss that part of my life tremendously as being a dancer was all I knew. God had other plans though, when I had an injury and then obviously later met Matt and we had our beautiful girls :) Here is a little montage video I made of some of my performances:

Apart from being a stay at home mum, I recently completed a Makeup Artistry course which I dabble in on the side. I am a very creative person, and have really struggled finding my niche, the thing that I was destined to do. I have had my finger in many different 'pies' and still hope to one day find my true calling! Finding a balance between investing time in this, my girls, myself, my marriage, friends and Christ is a daily struggle for me which I am sure you will hear about in my posts :)

Christ is my one true passion. He is the reason I am here, writing this blog. He is the reason I have any hope at all in this world which can sometimes feel hopeless. He gives me direction when I feel lost and He encourages me to keep on pressing on towards the goal He has set out for me.
I am not perfect, and am quite honest about that as you will read. I believe in wearing my heart on my sleeve as the world is a scary and lonely place if you try to keep up with everyone else and live up to everyone else's standards. We are all sinners and all fall short of His glory. I love to express my short fallings in the hope that it may give someone else hope, encouragement and faith to continue on :)

So, thank you for checking out my little blog. I am only just starting out and I wont be able to post all the time due to family commitments, but this is my outlet, a place I feel comfortable to release all things I have on my heart and mind as I try to stumble my way through this crazy forest of a world to find the path He has destined for me :)
